Dr. Bruce Hackworth, PHD

Bruce Hackworth, MA, MSW, PhD, LP is a graduate of Michigan State University where he received his Master’s in Family Studies and Master of Social Work from Michigan State University as well as his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from Andrews University.

Dr. Bruce has worked in the mental health field for over 40 years and has performed evaluations and treatment to many individuals, couples, families and groups. Dr. Bruce has been trained in a variety of therapy approaches including systems theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, dialectical behavior therapy and others. Dr. Bruce supervised mental health therapists in a public health setting for many years and was an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Indiana University South Bend before entering into private practice.

Dr. Bruce works with individuals of all ages and types of disorders. He also provides couples therapy and family therapy. Dr. Bruce looks forward to offering assistance to those who are seeking resolution to emotional and behavioral conflicts.

Dr. Gale Hackworth, PhD, LP

Gale Hackworth, PhD, LP is a graduate of Andrews University and holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology.  Dr. Gale is a fully licensed psychologist in the State of Michigan and has had training in a variety of empirically based practice therapies. 

Dr. Gale has worked in the mental health field for over 30 years in a variety of roles including supervising other therapists as well as engaging in individual, family and group therapies with a broad range of clients including the severely mentally ill, developmentally disabled, anxiety disordered, depressive disordered, trauma victims, and many other disorders.  Dr. Gale has worked extensively with other social service programs in a leadership position and was among the volunteers coordinating efforts for victims’ families on behalf of the American Red Cross in New York City following the 911 attack. 

Dr. Gale enjoys collaborating with individuals of all ages as well as couples, families and groups.  She welcomes you and/or your loved one to begin treatment and find solutions to the problems you face.

COUNSELING, WELLNESS COACHING

Gretchen Carlson, MA, LLP, CAADC

Gretchen Theisen-Carlson, MA, LLP, CAADC, is a graduate of Western Michigan University. She holds an undergraduate degree in Community Health Education and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology. She is also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Gretchen completed training in Cognitive Therapy with the Beck Institute. She is also trained in Trauma Informed Care and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Gretchen has over twenty years’ expertise working with depression, anxiety, trauma, co-occurring disorder, mood disorder, mindfulness, and much more.

She has experience working with the court system and completing court ordered MAT assessments and other court services. Gretchen enjoys working with adults and children providing individual, family, and group counseling.

She has worked as an adjunct instructor at Lake Michigan College and Siena Heights University. Gretchen looks forward to working with you on your journey to health and wellness.
